Healing

Wound healing is a universal issue of fundamental importance in the field of medical care. Globally, about 300 million patients in fact are afflicted with chronic skin lesions and 100 million patients have traumatic cutaneous wounds. Besides, one study has reported that among 100 million new scars formed every year, about 10% become pathological. Deterioration of the healing process is therefore a major concern for public health.

THERAPEUTIC ASSISTANCE WHEN TREATING DAMAGED SKIN

CICACTYL® is a purified natural active ingredient, specifically developed to accelerate and improve the efficacy of the skin healing process.

Developed through innovative in vitro models [1],[2],[3], CICACTYL® improves skin repair dynamics by transversally acting on the 4 biological events in the proliferation phase of the healing process:

DOUBLE PERFORMANCE ON REPAIR DYNAMICS

With a multi-target action, the active ingredient significantly improves the rate and the quality of healing.

By acting as of the first applications, CICACTYL® promotes recovery of the damaged skin barrier. Erythema, drying and scabs are thus attenuated. This efficacy was clinically demonstrated in a cohort of adult Caucasian subjects having undergone a mechanical aggression.

In preservative-free powder, CICACTYL® is perfectly tolerated by wounded or damaged skin requiring repair and can be used in leave-on cosmetic and dermo-cosmetic face and body care products by adult consumers (including pregnant and breast-feeding women) and infants.

FROM GALACTOMANNANS OF NATURAL ORIGIN

CICACTYL® is a natural active ingredient 85% purified in galactomannans obtained from carob gum (Ceratonia siliqua). The results of studies have shown that the efficacy of CICACTYL® depends on the size, the structure and the origin of the galactomannans. The latter have a strong affinity for lectins and a receptor, described as having a beneficial effect on the healing process.

In order to secure a sustainable supply of carob gum, SILAB has created partnerships with several suppliers in the Mediterranean basin, certified for organic agriculture and who provide carob gum whose quality is perfectly controlled.
